Kyoto, Japan

Hostel Description:

Kyoto Cheapest Inn is a budget accommodation near Nijo Castle in Kyoto, Japan. It is a "no-thrills" place with many of the basics most backpackers will need.

Location: 85%

Kyoto Cheapest Inn has a decent location being about a five to ten minute walk from Nijo Castle in central Kyoto. There are a couple restaurants nearby and the nearest subway station is about a ten minute walk away.

How Clean is it?: 75%

Kyoto Cheapest Inn wasn't super clean. It wasn't messy, but the floor always had a bit of a sticky, grimy feel to it and the dorm beds seemed somewhat rundown using very thin, old mattresses.

Any Character?: 80%

Kyoto Cheapest Inn had some character with its common room and "Manga" comics. The rooftop terrace is a nice touch as well. The dorms are a bit sterile however being very plain.

How Fun was it?: 85%

Kyoto Cheapest Inn isn't a super fun place. They do have free internet, Wi-Fi and common room as well as a rooftop terrace which is nice and the lack of a curfew is great, but the rooms themselves seem more "barrack" like and the hostel didn't come off as a great place to meet people.

The Extra Good:

The staff at Kyoto Cheapest Inn were great. They really made me feel welcome there and had a good grasp of the area.

The Extra Bad:

Kyoto Cheapest Inn is very packed in. The bathroom facilities can be crowded during busy times of the day and there isn't much room to put your luggage.

Final Thoughts:

Kyoto Cheapest Inn is a decent place to stay at if you are at a loss to options while in Kyoto. It wasn't a bad place to stay but not great either. If you don't plan on spending too much time in your hostel then Kyoto Cheapest Inn should work out for you.

Would I Stay There Again?:

Not unless there isn't anything else available.
