Chianti Hostel Review and Information

Rome, Italy

Hostel Description:

The Chianti Hostel is your typical Roman hostel in regards to being a bit over priced. They offer some basic amenities though to try and offset this like free breakfast and internet. Keep in mind though that they kick you out in the middle of the day for 4 hours, no exceptions. I thought this was only from the rooms, but they actually kick you out of the entire hostel. Pretty shitty but this seems to be a trend amongst a lot of the hostels in Rome.

Staff: 85%

The staff at Chianti Hostel were for the most part pretty friendly and good people (except when they kick you out in the middle of the day). They invited me out with them and one even showed me around which was much appreciated.

The location of the Chianti Hostel is central being a short walk from the main train station and most of the major sites in Rome.

How Clean is it?: 85%

The Chianti Hostel was pretty clean as it should be considering they have to kick everyone out for 4 hours to do the job.

Any Character?: 80%

The Chianti Hostel had a pretty modern feel to it without a bunch of character. Nothing in particular stood out to me.

How Fun was it?: 85%

The Chianti Hostel offered a couple different activities and pub crawls to go on plus they had a common room where people could hang out at. They actually seemed to have a pretty good attitude towards the idea of partying so people could have a good time there.

The Extra Good:

The staff were pretty nice people and very cool with hostel members partying it up.

The Extra Bad:

The four hour lockout in the middle of the day is fucking ridiculous. A couple other hostels do that as well in Rome. This has been the only city I have ever been to where I see this shit and I can only attribute it to laziness because it isn't that hard to clean a place up while people are staying there. Every other hostel I have been too does it so I don't see why they can't too.

Final Thoughts:

The Chianti Hostel was a decent place with nothing too fancy. The staff was really friendly but the four hour lockout in the middle of the day really put a bad taste in my mouth and I still don't understand why they have to kick people out to clean a hostel.

Would I Stay There Again?:

No way, the four hour lock out is unacceptable.
