Staff: 85%

The staff of Hatters Hostel Manchester was surprisingly nice which sometimes isn't the case for hostels of their size. They were very helpful and attentive and more than happy to answer any of my questions.

Location: 90%

Hatters Hostel Manchester has a very good location being about a ten minute walk from the train station in central Manchester. You are also close to many shops, restaurants and a couple decent pubs and clubs.

How Clean is it?: 77%

Hatters Hostel Manchester was a relatively clean place. The dorm rooms were pretty well kept as were the common rooms, however the bathrooms were in a bit of disrepair and looked like something you could expect to see in a prison.

Any Character?: 85%

Hatters Hostel Manchester had a decent amount of character in the common rooms with funky decorations, paintings/posters and interesting furniture. The level of character seemed to go down the higher up you went in the building with the top floor having the least amount of character.

How Fun was it?: 80%

Hatters Hostel Manchester is a somewhat fun place with a couple activities being run by the hostel, a great location, some nice common rooms, free Wi-Fi, a pool table and an open drinking policy.

Value for your Money: 85%

Hatters Hostel Manchester was a decent value not being very expensive for the good location, comfortable beds and free amenities.

Bar:

They did not have a bar.

Internet:

Hatters Hostel Manchester had around 5 internet terminals that you could use for an average price. They also had free Wi-Fi that wasn't very reliable or fast at times.

Food:

Hatters Hostel Manchester had free toast, butter, jams and tea/coffee all day long. They also had free juice in the mornings.

The Extra Good:

The best thing about Hatters Hostel Manchester was how spacious the rooms were. The rooms were very large and in some of the rooms they could have easily fit some more beds in them but instead chose not to for the sake of comfort.

The Extra Bad:

The bathrooms at Hatters Hostel Manchester had a very basic look to it and reminded me of something you might expect to see in a prison or mental institution. On top of that the shower stalls used clear glass doors with distorted glass in the middle (so people could see everything but your midsection) which is less than ideal.

Final Thoughts:

Hatters Hostel Manchester is a decent place to stay at even though the bathrooms could use some improvement. The location is good being near the train station in the city center, the staff was friendly and they had a good amount of free amenities on offer.

Would I Stay There Again?:

Yes.
