Staff: 98%

The staff at the Alexandrie Montreal was superb! They were some of the most informative and helpful staff members that I have encountered in all of my travels. The person who checked me in spent at least 10 unsolicited minutes with me only going over the city's highlights. I saw this done with each person who checked in. Also, almost every night someone from the staff would take everyone from the hostel out to one of the best bars/clubs in the area.

Location: 95%

The Alexandrie-Montreal is located in a nice part of Montreal right in between the Plateau area and the Latin Quarter. The area has many shops, restaurants and bars. Also, many of the city's highlights are within walking distance. The main bus station is about a ten minute walk away.

How Clean is it?: 90%

The Alexandrie-Montreal was a clean place being cleaned every day. The kitchen was especially nice. The furniture was in good condition. Only bad thing is that they use "pee covers" for the beds making for a somewhat uncomfortable and noisy sleep.

Any Character?: 93%

The Alexandrie-Montreal had a great amount of character with multiple common rooms that were beyond comfortable, tasteful decorations and décor, an outdoor patio and a welcoming atmosphere that really does make you feel like you are at home.

How Fun was it?: 93%

The Alexandrie-Montreal is a very fun place to stay at. The common rooms are very comfortable and great for meeting people. There are also TVs in each of them along with a DVD/VHS in one of them. They also have board games you can play. For going out, the staff members usually take everyone out most of the nights and they don't care if you drink in the hostel. They also have free Wi-Fi as well as an outdoor patio.

The Extra Good:

The Alexandrie-Montreal has been one of the most comfortable hostels I have ever stayed at. I really felt as if I was at home. Besides the comfortable surroundings, the staff made you really feel welcome.

The Extra Bad:

The plastic "pee covers" they put on all the mattresses and pillows always make for an uncomfortable and noisy sleep. On hot days they can be really uncomfortable. I know they have a purpose but most hostels seem to somehow get by without them.

Final Thoughts:

The Alexandrie-Montreal hostel is easily one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home, the free amenities are awesome (especially breakfast), the common rooms are great for meeting people and the location is great.

Would I Stay There Again?:

Most definitely.
